3 wins in a row for the Cats
Wildcats claw their way back into their EPL after a win away to the Romford Raiders
After claiming their first away win of the season Swindon were up against last years League Champions Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday night.
The game got underway and it was Peterborough who opened the score line just over 2 minutes into the match.
Swindon equalised soon after with a goal from Aaron Nell. It was a closely contested game with neither side having the edge. It was Peterborough who again took the lead in the second period sending them into the last period with a 1 goal lead. Swindon started the third and final period with a lot more passion for goals which paid off just after 2 minutes when captain Lee Richarson levelled the score. But not to be outdone Peterborough once again answered back with a goal. Nell scored his second goal of the night just a minute after to level the score line at 3-3. The next goal to be scored was from Swindon Danilics to give the home side the lead for the first time. This was to be short lived when Swindon were down to 4 skaters, Peterborough seized the opportunity and pulled their netminder giving them 6 men on the ice which paid off when they found the back of the net.
Swindon were given an opportunity late on in the game when they were awarded a penalty shot when Phantoms defensemen deliberately pushed the goal off the line when Swindon were on the attack. Danilics was unable to find the net and the match went to overtime. After 5 minutes of overtime neither side were able to score so the game went to a penalty shoot out. 3 shots from both sides were taken and it was Kohut who found the net giving Swindon a much needed home win.
